Opportunities To Serve Outside Of LFUMC
Serve Dinner at Brown Memorial UMC
Would you like to help serve a meal and celebrate with worship? This is a wonderful way to build God’s kingdom on His earth by serving others. We routinely prepare a hot meal for up to 150 people on the poor West Side of Syracuse and partner with other organizations in other ways to serve Brown UMC.
Work at Matthew 25 Farm
This small, not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization in LaFayette and Tully NY supports food pantries and goodwill organizations throughout Central New York. Matthew 25 grows and distributes fresh vegetables to those in need to ensure that no Central New Yorker goes without fresh produce. Help includes planting, weeding, and later in the season, with harvesting! Liverpool First has also been involved in numerous building projects at the Matthew 25 Farm.
Participate in our Winter Coat Giveaway
Many people do not have adequate clothing for the harsh Syracuse winters, so Liverpool First has initiated an annual Winter Coat Giveaway, right in our back parking lot. We serve multiple families with clothing from toddlers through adults. We are looking to expand our efforts to additional clothing items at other times of the year.
Week-long Mission Work at Red Bird Mission
Red Bird Mission has been providing Christ-centered ministries in Southeastern Kentucky since 1921. Liverpool First has supported Red Bird with mission trips every 2-3 years, an opportunity to help those in need while providing strong spiritual growth for each of the participants. Young and old alike are invited to get involved.
Other Outreach Efforts
These activities above are just a few of the ways Liverpool First United Methodist Church serves people near and far. Additionally, we support the Syracuse Rescue Mission, prepare food for the Samaritan Center, collect food for the St. Joseph’s Food Pantry and the Eastern Farm Workers Association, serve a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner, and Election Night spaghetti supper that’s open to all. We prepare and serve soup for the local CROP Hunger Walk, participate in the annual fall potato drop, collect supplies for local schools, and work cooperatively with other ministries such as Beautiful Mess Music Ministry.
