"A Single Voice in the Desert". Pastor Ray leads us through Luke 3:1-6 as we consider the calling of John the Baptist. The prophet Isaiah wrote, “See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way; the voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.’” (Mark 1:2-3, NRSV.) And John, the messenger of God, proclaimed to all the people who came to him in the wilderness that they must repent of their sins and be baptized. Many people heard his message, repented, and were baptized in the River Jordan. The question becomes, 'Are we prepared for God to enter into the world - to enter into our lives?' Being prepared means we must be willing to look honestly at our lives and be open to change. This Advent, let us all take time to look openly in the mirror and consider what we must do to clear the way for the coming of the King. Come, Lord Jesus. Amen. Have hope and see!
